What is Rezoning?
What is rezoning?
Rezoning is a process where a property owner requests that the local jurisdiction removes the existing zoning designation from a property and assigns a new designation.
What are some examples of a rezoning request?
The most obvious examples would include rezoning a property from Agricultural to Residential or Residential to Commerical. However, there are far more nuanced examples as well such as a change from a C1 to C2.
Why would someone rezone a property?
To change the land use, from agricultural to residential for example. In more nuanced circumstances, a property owner may want to change from one type of residential zoning designation to another residential zoning designation to allow for more dwelling units on the same property.
